Jack Rodwell is set to join Man City.
The highly-rated Everton centre back and defensive midfielder had been linked to Man United for the past number of seasons but it looks like the blue-half of Manchester will sign Rodwell should he successfully complete a medical and agree personal terms today.
It comes ahead of the Community Shield final between City and Chelsea and in a week that Roberto Mancini had bemoaned his club’s transfer policy this summer.
A statement from Everton read today that "Everton have agreed an undisclosed fee with Manchester City for the transfer of Jack Rodwell," a statement said from Everton today
"The midfielder is set to undergo a medical with the Premier League champions on Sunday."
Everton have found it difficult to hold on to their top players in the past and their manger David Moyes had labelled City’s past pursuit of Joleon Lescott as “disgusting.”
Rodwell has been named in Roy Hodgson’s squad for England’s friendly next week and despite injury problems over the past few years is rated as one of the most naturally gifted defenders in the country, his value had been stated as around £20million in the past.
