With an ego the size of Ronaldo’s, it must be tough to see your biggest rival win the Ballon d’Or four times in a row. But who says he can’t have his cake?

The Real Madrid star can rightly feel a little aggrieved that Leo Messi has cleaned up on the personal accolades since Ronnie himself last won the award back in 2008. The only player to consistently rival the Argentinian in that period, he will feel more than a little hard done by. And some lovely Portuguese bakers have decided to cheer up their national hero.
The squad were in Lisbon this week ahead of a double header away to Israel on Friday before Tuesday’s away game to Azerbaijan. One bakery decided to rustle up the Ballon d’Or cake for Ronnie as a sign of appreciation and he seemed to take the whole thing in good spirits.

The cynics in us would also be sceptical as to whether the women are indeed the bakers of the cake, but either way, it is the thought that counts.
And Lisbon has suddenly become a more attractive holiday proposition.
