Footballers' autobiographies are two-a-penny these days, but Craig Bellamy’s might be a little more hard-hitting than most.
By Declan Whooley
There are quite a few footballing autobiographies stacked on the shelves in the JOE office, which range from superb all the ways down to mediocre. Our guess is that for every decent read, there are about five utterly bland offerings to balance it out. Craig Bellamy’s doesn’t look like it could be placed into the latter category.
The former Liverpool and Manchester City frontman is known for his fiery temperament on the pitch, and if some of the extracts from Craig Bellamy: GoodFella that goes on sale today are anything to go by, then bored you will not be from what the Welshman has to say.
From describing Bobby Robson as the best manager he has ever worked with, to being threatened to have his legs broken on the pitch, to saying how he has nothing against David Moyes, even though “he’s a bit of a c**t”, there seems to be no fence sitting on show here.
And former Newcastle team-mate Alan Shearer comes in for some stinging criticism in the book too. It was well known the two were far from bosom buddies, but this extract shows the contempt both men had for eachother.

The most surprising thing is that Shearer sent back what could be described as a colourful text.
Anyone who is a regular viewer of Match of the Day will appreciate that ‘colourful’ is not a word you often associate with the Premier League’s record goal scorer.
We’re looking forward to his analysis of Cardiff City next season on the couch.
