Using the time-honoured system of believing what the bookies believe, it seems Mick McCarthy will be the new boss at Ipswich.
While many of us thought he might be Ireland boss for the second time if Trap did get the push, it seems Mick McCarthy will be back in club management instead.
The always reliable lads at Paddy Power have stopped taking bets on Mick McCarthy to be the new boss at Ipswich, meaning we fully expect the former Sunderland and Wolves man to be at the helm of the Tractor Boys sooner rather than later.
Ipswich parted company with Paul Jewell last week and McCarthy immediately jumped to the top of the betting. The club have so far only said that the interview process is underway and that they expect to make an appointment before Ipswich play Birmingham on Saturday.
Other candidates for the job include Owen Coyle and Alan Curbishley but all the signs point to Mick slotting in the hotseat once occupied by old friend Roy Keane. As Keano took up the reins at Sunderland shortly after Mick left, expect lots of comparisons between the two to spring up again if Mick does end up at Portman Road.
To be honest, we just want Mick back in the game. Anyone who can produce YouTube clips of this quality is a masive loss to every football fan.
