Forget Rod Steward, Snoop Dogg would bring all sorts of cool to Parkhead if he follows up on claims that he would be interested in making an investment in Celtic.

The Hoops’ magnificent victory over Barcelona in the Champions League recently was one of the greatest occasions in the history of the competition and the resounding effect of the victory spread worldwide, including, it seems, to Snoop’s digs Stateside.

So impressed was Snoop Dizzle by the atmosphere at Celtic Park on the night that he has claimed that he would be interested in investing in the SPL giants and has even asked LA Galaxy Star and renowned football investment expert David Beckham for advice on the matter.

“I got a lot of interest in soccer,” the hip-hop star is quoted as saying in the Scottish Daily Record.

“It's not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams.

“I didn't catch the whole Barcelona game but I watched the highlights. I know Barcelona are a big deal and it shows Celtic are a big deal as well.

“I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.

“I haven't really thought how much. I don't need to run a soccer club but enough of a percentage to get me on the board so I can be heard.

“I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things.”

Snoop is usually renowned for being interested in a completely different kind of green, but Snoop to the Hoops has a nice ring to it, while the prospect of Snoop and Jim McGuinness together in the one place will create great excitement for Irish followers of the Hoops.

Would a potential link-up be welcomed by Celtic and football fans alike?

Fo’shizzle my nizzle.
