Sean St. Ledger could be set for date at Wembley after Millwall today signed the Republic of Ireland centre-half on an emergency loan deal.
By Declan Whooley
St. Ledger came off the bench against Austria to win his 33rd international cap on Tuesday night, but has struggled to get game time at high flying Leicester City in the Championship this season, making just 10 appearances for the Foxes this season.
He will join Anthony Forde, defender Alan Dunne and striker Andy Keogh at the New Den to add to the growing Irish contingent at the club. His emergency loan deal will see him at Millwall until May 4th.
The defender will hope to feature when the Lions face Wigan in their FA Cup semi-final next month after being granted permission by the FA, though should they upset their Premier League opposition, his deal expires the week before the final.
St. Ledger will provide competition and cover for Danny Shittu, Mark Beevers and Karleigh Osborne, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring strain.
From an Irish perspective, Giovanni Trapattoni will be hopeful that St. Ledger gets more game time at the New Den than he has been with the Foxes.
