When we saw Everton’s new club crest, ‘poor’ was a polite way of describing what we thought of it. And Toffees supporters seem to be of the same opinion.
By Declan Whooley
Launched officially yesterday, it was claimed the new crest was created following “an extensive consultation process with fans, supporters' groups and branding experts”. While branding experts definitely had a part to play, it is doubtful many fans were consulted in the process judging by the reaction on social media.
The negative opinions will always out-number the positive one as a general rule of thumb on social media, but the club will be disappointed at the reaction to the new crest, though they only have themselves to blame. The removal of the Latin motto of the club is particularly a sore point, adding fuel to the fire that the commercial aspect is taking over.

The old and the new club crest
“90% of the story on the official site attempts to justify the badge and fails miserably, even you know it's atrocious @Everton,” said one fan.
“S**t badge, followed by s**t manager, followed by relegation, all part of uncle Bill's plan. Kenwright out NOW!!!!,” said another and the theme was similar throughout.
With football now pretty much in hibernation for the summer, transfers, kit launches and things such as crest modifications will fill up the gap. And this design is very much in the spotlinght.
