Video: Team GB united and conquered (by Brazil)
Team GB succumbed to a 2-Nil defeat last night to a dominant Brazil at the Riverside Stadium as they prepared ahead of the Olympic football tournament which kicks off next Thursday.
Unlike the English football team at the European Championships, we did get a whiff of hype ahead of Team GB’s first match since 1971 when Bulgaria beat a side then managed by Sir Matt Busby 5-0.
Brazil promptly snuffed out any chance that the hype might grow as they dominated possession in the Riverside Stadium last night winning 2-Nil with Neymar, Hulk and Chelsea-bound Oscar all looking sharp. Neymar’s sublime free kick assist for Sandro’s headed goal and penalty showing why Barca are so keen to unite him with Messi.

They’re calling this side Team Great Britain, but that’s only true if you think the Act of Union 1535 between England and Wales is valid and ignore all the subsequent acts of union as Northern Ireland and Scotland have no representation on Team GB.
Einstein once said “Madness is to keep doing the same thing over and over but each time expecting a different result.” Well England and Wales may have united but the football style was still the same with no notable synergy and leaves the Olympic Team GB fans a bit deflated ahead of their first match against Senegal this Thursday.
