Tony Pulis is all set to leave Stoke City after a long reign in charge of the Potters and word of his departure prompted some very funny, if unsympathetic, reaction on the Twittersphere.
Speculation began to emerge this afternoon that Pulis was on the brink of leaving the club after a meeting with Chief Executive Peter Coates this morning and if it proves to be true, it would bring an end to Pulis’ second spell with a club he also managed for three years from 2002 to 2005.
While Pulis has done great things with the Potters and has firmly established them as a Premier League club having taken them from the Championship to the top flight in 2007, he has also attracted plenty of criticism for a style of football that could be kindly be described as ‘direct’ with Rory Delap’s throw-ins arguably proving to be their most lethal weapon in their first few years amongst the elite.
With that in mind, many of the tweets that greeted the news of Pulis’ departure were a little unsympathetic to say the least but we can’t deny that we laughed just a little. Enjoy.
