Thanks to Simon Cox, we know how the Irish squad are taking the news of Shay Given’s retirement. They are taking the piss.
We were not too surprised to hear the news that Shay Given retired from international football last night. The Donegal man had flagged up he was thinking that way during the Euros and after 16 years of service, nobody could quibble with his decision.
If we were not too surprised, we’re sure the squad were the same and thanks to Simon Cox (@scoxy31real) we get to see this moving tribute (no pun intended) to Shay Given on the Ireland team bus this morning.

The use of the term ‘RIP’ is a bit much but we are more worried about the ominous question marks over Dunney, Duffer and Keano. Grim reading for Ireland fans.
And with Marco Tardelli claiming just yesterday that he did not expect any senior players to go, we hope the Italian doesn’t wander down the back of the bus and see this.
