The world’s best footballers (and Fernando Torres) star in new Pepsi clip
Continuing a longstanding tradition of paying far too many footballers for a tiny advert, Pepsi’s latest effort features the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and… Fernando Torres?
Yep, evidently somebody at Pepsi was impressed by the Chelsea benchwarmer’s two-goal haul against Leicester City last weekend, as Torres appears alongside the likes of the aforementioned Aguero and Messi, in addition to Jack Wilshere and club teammates Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.
The ‘Kick in the Mix’ clip – which you can watch above – features the musical accompaniment of Calvin Harris’ (who appears in the advert) forthcoming single “Let’s Go” feauring R&B singer Ne-Yo and sees the football superstars turn up at a concert and immediately became infatuated with a Pepsi vending machine. In order to reach the vending machine, the stars must crowdsurf by employing a variety of skillful trickery, before the collective spots that Messi has somehow made out with the machine itself, thanks to the impressive upper body strength of Calvin Harris’ audience.
Obviously none of it makes any sense – least of all the inclusion of Torres – yet it’s an impressive advert nonetheless. You can enjoy the clip above.
