It’s all about one man in today’s rumours yet again though a massive delivery out of Spurs is pretty impressive too.
While the papers today went to press too late to pick up the latest Luis Suarez quotes the speculation over a move away from Anfield still domintes the transfer rumour agenda.
The Daily Mirror report that Real Madrid are prepared to offer the Uruguayan striker £140,000 a week on a four-year deal, which probably sounds very good to Suarez.
As for Liverpool, they will offer them £20million plus striker Jose Callejon. Is that enough for Brendan Rodgers to part with his prized asset? We doubt it but as an opening bid, it’s not bad. Not the last we’ve heard of this one...
The other interesting story also revolves around Real Madrid, in a tangential way at least. In a bid to have enough money left in the coffers to fund a bumper new deal for Gareth Bale, and stave off his Spanish admirers, AVB is having a clearout. Getting ‘All offers considered’ stickers slapped on them are David Bentley, William Gallas, Emmanuel Adebayor, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Jake Livermore, Tom Huddlestone and Heurelho Gomes, according to the Daily Mail.
Cesc Fabregas is in the news again too but depending on who you read he is either staying at Barca (Sky Sports) or wants to return to former club Arsenal (Mirror).
Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in Fabregas and they may be losing a midfielder as the Daily Star reports that Galatasaray are interested in Nani.
The ‘David Luiz to Barcelona’ story won’t go away either and it may be boosted by the news that Jose Mourinho wants to bring Porto central defender Eliaquim Mangala to Chelsea as one of his first signings (The Sun).
And speaking of managers raiding their former clubs, Insidefutbol is reporting that Rafa Benitez, newly installed in the Napoli hot seat, fancies taking a large chunk of Liverpool with him. Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Lucas Leiva and former Reds midfielder Javier Mascherano are all on his shopping list. Good luck with that one Rafa...
In other news Sunderland are still interested in Fraser Forster as they expect Simon Mignolet to pack his bags this summer (Daily Record), Fulham are buying Dutch stopper Maarten Stekelenburg from Roma (Mail) and Porto defender Christian Atsu may be joining Liverpool (Metro).
Finally, we leave you with the news that it is unlikely Cristiano Ronaldo is going anywhere this summer after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told Marca that they wouldn’t sell the superstar, even if a bid of €1bn came in. That should even scare PSG, Monaco and Man City off.
