Video: A pretty brilliant bicycle kick scored in France yesterday

Zoltan Gera, Demba Ba and Michu all scored brilliant goals in the Premier League yesterday, but none quite as good as this effort from Lyon’s Michel Bastos.

Lyon had already got their Ligue 1 campaign off to a winning start before taking on Troyes yesterday and they now hold the top spot after trashing the minnows 4-1, a victory which was helped by a quite stunning goal from Michel Bastos.

There didn’t appear to be an awful lot on after a Troyes defender looped the ball from his own line towards the edge of the box, but Bastos, who was running back towards his own goal, launched himself at the ball and unleashed a unstoppable bicycle kick towards the top corner.

You’ll go a long way to see a better bicycle kick all season and unlike Wayne Rooney’s famous acrobatic effort against Manchester City a couple of season back, this was no shinned effort.
