John O’Shea has endeared himself to Sunderland fans today by bagging a last gasp goal to salvage a point for Sunderland against Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland had gone behind after just three minutes to a strike from Yohan Cabaye, while Newcastle lost defensive midfielder Tiote in the same half, but the visitors valiantly defended for the rest of the match and looked to be on the way to securing three points and bragging rights over their heated rivals.
Then John O’Shea popped up and scored - though it does seem to have deflected off Demba Ba. Anyhow O’Shea seems to have “pulled a Robbie Keane” and tried to claim the goal for himself.
It comes after O’Shea had a bad few days with Ireland having been part of a defence that leaked seven goals in two games against Germany and the Faroe Islands.
