NBC called on actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis and the Spurs squad for an ad to promote their Premier League coverage and the end result is very good indeed.
Titled ‘An American coach in London’, the ad is based around the experiences of fictional Ted Lasso (Sudeikis), a Texas coach seeking to adapt to his new role as coach of ‘the Tottenham Hotspurs’ by using his own background in football of the American variety.
We particularly liked the memory devices Lasso uses to remember the names of the opposition teams and his refusal to use his hands for an entire day out of respect for the game but the whole ad is well worth a watch, even if only for Spurs fans to catch sight of Gareth Bale wearing the club colours one last time.
Hat-tip to Ed Gleeson for giving us the heads up on this one
