After all of the criticism the unplayable player has received over the past year in particular, he was the very picture of humility as he accepted his award at Arsenal's Emirates stadium last night (don't get too excited Gooners), after more than 500,000 fans had voted in the competition, naming Suárez best player ahead of fellow footballers Robin van Persie, Leighton Baines, Christian Benteke, Juan Mata and Pablo Zabaleta.
