With that in mind, don’t be surprised if you see teams across the continent replicating the approach that Red Bull Leipzig adopted against Stuttgart II straight from kick-off at the weekend.
All bar three Leipzig players, including the goalkeeper, ventured into the opposition half as soon as the first whistle blew and after an agricultural hoof up the field by one defender, the gamble paid off as Leipzig took the lead with a goal after just ten seconds.
A risky strategy certainly, but nothing ventured, nothing gained after all.
