On a day when there were six Irish players in action at Molineux, Robbie Keane reminded them all who’s boss with two brilliant and match-winning goals.
Robbie struck twice to cast aside any doubts about his ability to thrive in the Premier League, netting the equaliser six minutes into the second half with a lovely swivel and half volley from the edge of the area.
If that was good, he went one better with an absolutely spectacular winner that flew into the net off the underside of the crossbar six minutes from the end.
Robbie didn’t celebrate either goal out of respect for his former club, but then again there aren't many clubs against whom he can actually celebrate goals anymore, given the wealth of clubs he has graced with his presence in the past.
Shay Given, Richard Dunne and Ciaran Clark all played 90 minutes for Villa, while the man of the moment was called ashore to a rapturous reception from the visiting supporters as the game entered stoppage time.
Stephen Ward played a full game for Wolves and Kevin Foley was pulled after 89 minutes, but worryingly from an Irish perspective, neither Stephen Hunt nor Kevin Doyle were called upon from the bench, even when Mick McCarthy’s side were going for broke at the death.
Today was all about our fearless leader, however, and the rest of Europe should be afraid, very afraid, after watching this.
That's right folks, Robbie's back.
