Video: RVP's first Man United goal wasn't half bad was it?

With his very first shot as a Manchester United player, Robin van Persie scored on his home debut at Old Trafford. Not a bad effort, either.

The suddenly prolific Damien Duff shocked the hosts with a Fulham goal after only three minutes, but it wasn’t long before RVP equalised, knocking home a beauty from inside the box after Patrice Evra’s left wing cross.

Shinji Kagawa also opened his account and Rafael scored an unlikely third, but United chugged their way to the finish thanks to a Nemanja Vidic own goal midway through the second half that was largely the fault of David de Gea, who still looks very dodgy in the air.

Everton, United’s conquerors on Monday night, continued their uncharacteristically excellent start to the season with a 3-1 win away to Villa, with Steven Pienaar (a beauty, see below), Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic all on the scoresheet and sometime Irish international Ciaran Clark seeing red for the Villains.

Michael Laudrup has now seen his Swansea side score eight and concede none following a comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham, while James Morrison spoiled what would have been a first win for AVB with a late equaliser at White Hart Lane.

A week after letting in ten between them, Norwich and QPR managed to close the floodgates and only concede a goal apiece at Carrow Road and in the afternoon’s other fixture, Wigan started life without Victor Moses with a 2-0 away to Southampton at St. Mary’s.

Premier League results:

Swansea 3-0 West Ham

Aston Villa 1-3 Everton

Manchester United 3-2 Fulham

Norwich 1-1 QPR

Southampton 0-2 Wigan

Tottenham 1-1 West Brom
