Ajax put a huge dent in Man City’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League tonight. Here’s the pick of the goals from the Amsterdam Arena.

City knew going into this evening’s game that they needed a result and they took the lead against the run of play through Samir Nasri after 22 minutes.

The hosts always looked as if they would take something from the game, however, and they scored the next three goals against a shell-shocked City side, with Siem De Jong, Niklas Moisander and Christian Eriksen all getting on the scoresheet.

The pick of the bunch came from De Jong, who showed with the equaliser that he’s a lot better at shooting than his namesake who left City in the summer.

Check out his very tidy finish for yourself in the video above.

To make it worse for City, Borussia Dortmund beat Real Madrid in Germany, meaning that even second place in the Group of Death now looks nigh on impossible to achieve.

If it’s of any comfort to them, Citeh weren’t the only English side who endured a miserable night in Europe as Arsenal lost for only the second time in their last 45 Champions League home matches.

Champions League results:

Porto 3-2 Dynamo Kiev

Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 PSG

Arsenal 0-2 Schalke

Montpellier 1-2 Olympiacos

Zenit St. Petersburg 1-0 Anderlecht

Malaga 1-0 AC Milan

Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Real Madrid

Ajax 3-1 Manchester City
