"Mr Blatter must be stopped ... A kangaroo court would be a decent thing to see."
The damning words of Jack Warner as the row over the Fifa bribery scandal shows no signs of calming.
Warner, the CONCACAF President who moonlights as Works & Transport Minister in his Trinidad & Tobago homeland, and Asian Football Confederation chief Mohamed bin Hammam were suspended on Sunday by Fifa’s ethics committee pending a formal investigation.
The committee also ruled that Sepp Blatter, the governing body’s rule-with-an-iron-fist President, had no case to answer amid counter-allegations by Warner, while bin Hammam’s departure from Wednesday’s presidential election leaves the way clear for the controversial Swiss to begin a fourth term in office this week.
Warner, who promised to unleash a “tsunami” against Fifa’s top brass if he was suspended, has now spoken out against Blatter, although he stopped short of making any allegations which could be fatal to the latter’s career.
Anyway, here’s the video of Warner’s latest impromptu press briefing:
And below, in two parts, the full press conference from Blatter in Zurich on Monday evening. The second one, where he answers questions without providing any answers, takes the biscuit. Compulsive viewing for anyone with an interest in the so-called beautiful game.
