Vladimir Weiss: Rangers have a better squad than Celtic
Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss has explained that he chose Rangers over Celtic in August because they possess a better squad.
Celtic almost signed the Manchester City player on loan in the summer transfer window, only for him to join rivals Rangers when Walter Smith made a bid for him.
"Both managers were really nice to me," Weiss said in a recent interview.
"They wanted to see me wearing their shirts and the discussions were good. It was just that everything happened easier with Rangers.
"I don't really want to go into what Lennon said to me at that time. That wouldn't be right. I haven't got a problem with him and I hope he doesn't have a problem with me. I hope he can understand why I chose Rangers.
"The main talks were held between the two clubs and Man City. If Rangers had come in first then I would have come here straight away. But as it happened Celtic were in first and it was while I was still waiting on a deal that Rangers made their interest known.
"I knew I wanted to play for Rangers straight away. There were several reasons - I looked at the team and the stadium and I had also visited the training ground.
"I think Rangers have a better squad than Celtic and when I spoke to Walter Smith he gave me a lot of confidence. He told me it wouldn't be easy for me to get into the team and I appreciated that because when I went to Bolton last season, Owen Coyle told me I was going to play in every game.
"I went there and although I worked really hard I was never in the team. Walter told me I would get games but to stay in the team I would need to prove myself and do well. I wanted to take up that challenge and I'm pleased with my decision."
The 20-year-old has played nine times for Rangers and scored one goal.
