Okay it’s not official yet but 36 year-old Mikael Silvestre is back training at Man United.

Silvestre made over 300 appearances in a career at Old Trafford spanning nine years before he moved to Arsenal.

The Frenchman left Werder Bremen in the summer but Fergie has allowed his former left and centre-back to train with his former club to regain sharpness.

United are having  a defensive crisis at the moment with Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all out, leaving Evans, Rio Ferdinand and youngster Michael Keane available.

With Rio going off on a wander during United’s defeat to Tottenham on Saturday, Silvestre may find himself wandering into a one-year contract to cover for United’s makeshift defence.
