Young footballer dies after suffering heart attack on pitch in Brazil

08/07/2012 4:57 pm

In absolutely tragic news, a 17-year old footballer has died in Brazil after suffering a heart attack on the pitch.

After the death of Italian footballer Piermario Morosini and Fabrice Muamba’s lucky escape earlier this year, it is harrowing to have to report of yet another tragedy on the football pitch, the latest one coming from Sao Paulo in Brazil, where 17-year old Arjuna Venutto Luiz Ramos died during a game for his local team FC Sao Bernardo.

According to reports in Brazil, Ramos fell to the grass unchallenged and began to suffer convulsions in a Sao Paolo state under-17 match and despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The player had no record of health problems according to his club, who have expressed their sympathy with the family of the deceased.

To have one tragedy in a year in football is enough, but the amount of similar incidents that have occurred this year is a reminder that there are far more important things in life than what happens on the pitch.
