Champions League Love/Hate: The good and the bad from this week’s action

It's good to have European Football back in our lives...

It’s good to have European Football back in our lives…

The Champions League group stages got underway this week and the biggest talking point from the first round of games was the competitiveness of the so-called weaker teams.

Liverpool scraped past Ludogorets, Barcelona only managed a 1-0 win over Apoel Nicosia, Chelsea drew with Schalke at Stamford Bridge, and big spending PSG were held by Ajax. We’re not sure anyone would have predicted those results.

As always there were plenty of stand out moments from the week but we’ve picked out our best and worst for you here.

Love – Paul Merson’s extremely Paul Merson comment about Arsenal…

Hate – The sheer incompetence of CSKA striker Seydou Doumbia when through on goal against Roma…*

*We kind of secretly love that miss by Seydou Doumbia though.
