Let the games begin…

Let the games begin…

Fond of a bit of a punt on the footie at the weekend? If so, then we’re going to make the Premier League a lot more interesting this season by pitting our wits against the JOE readers and Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor to see who really knows their stuff.

Every week, we’ll be putting a shout out on Twitter for JOE readers to send us in their Premier League treble selections via the #LadbrokesTreble hashtag and every week, one lucky winner will be able to put someone else’s money where their mouth is with a free €50 Ladbrokes bet on their selection.

The *cough* ultra-knowledgeable heads in the JOE office *cough* will also pick a treble every week, as will Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor and to provide proof of both success and humiliation, there’ll be a leaderboard in place to keep track of everyone’s progress on a weekly basis.

Be warned, we can pretty competitive.

Here are this week’s selections:

JOE’s treble:

Aston Villa and Arsenal draw,11/4

Villa have made an excellent start to the season and with one goal conceded in four games they look as defensively sound as anyone. Arsenal were disappointing midweek and even though they’re unbeaten in 15 trips to Villa we can’t see them getting all three points.

Hull to beat Newcastle, 13/5

The Magpies are bottom of the table with four defeats in four games and they need a reaction this weekend for themselves and manager Alan Pardew. However, Hull are looking very good under Steve Bruce and we think the Tigers can go to St James’ Park and win.

Manchester United to beat Leicester, 4/6

United looked pretty awesome in their demolition of QPR last weekend and Leicester are at a similar level so we’re expecting a similar result. Louis Van Gaal has had a week to prepare for this so we expect United so be firing on all cylinders.

That treble comes in at a little over 22/1

Hayley’s treble:

Liverpool to beat West Ham, 4/5

The Reds need to recover quickly after last week’s setback against Aston Villa and we think they will against another team in claret and blue this weekend.

Newcastle to beat Hull City, 23/20

It might sounds crazy to be backing Newcastle right now, but they’re going to have to improve sometime and Hull are hardly lighting it up right now either.

Everton to beat Crystal Palace, 4/9

Buoyed by a good win in Europe on Thursday night, I reckon the Toffees will be far too strong for Neil Warnock’s men at Goodison Park.

That treble comes in at approximately 11/2

JOE readers’ treble:

This week, the honour goes to Michael Gaynor, who’s gone for wins for Sunderland and Manchester City and a draw between West Ham and Liverpool. That treble comes in around the 26/1 mark, so Michael is in for some windfall on Sunday evening if all his picks come good.
