Kevin Doyle became the third Ireland international striker to score this weekend as he sent Wolves top of the Premier League table with the opener against Fulham.
Doyle sent a cracker past Mark Schwarzer three minutes before half-time, and Matt Jarvis’s second moments later gave Mick McCarthy’s men a lead they would retain until the full-time whistle.
The result put Wolves top of the table on six points from two games, although Manchester City knocked them off their perch on goal difference with a hard-fought win over Bolton in the later kick-off.
Back to Doyler, though, and a goal which ensured he would follow Shane Long and Robbie Keane onto the scoresheet this weekend.
All of which leaves Giovanni Trapattoni with a good dilemma ahead of those Euro 2012 games against Slovakia and Russia in a couple of weeks’ time.
