Arsenal are planning a £15 million bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill when the transfer window opens in January.

Bolton have reportedly put Cahill up for sale, a suggestion by the Guardian.co.uk.

The 24-year-old England international has been monitored by Arsene Wenger for some time now, according to reports.

"If a Champions League team knocks on our door in January that's the best time to sell an asset because Champions League teams will pay the money," Bolton's chairman Phil Gartside said.
