Is this the end of another goalkeeper’s Arsenal career?

The goalkeeping dorm-room at Arsenal hasn’t exactly been filled with beds of roses in recent years, and another Gunners keeper found himself a bit of a laughing stock on Tuesday night.

Since the retirement of David Seaman eight years ago, several netminders have come and gone in north London.

Young Pole Wojniech Szczesny still looks a bright prospect, his fellow custodians at the Emirates, including Lukasz Fabianski, Manuel Almunia and the since-departed mad hatter Jens Lehmann, have been blighted by mishap after mishap.

Another Arsenal keeper, Italian Vito Mannone, replaced the injured Fabianski in the first half of the Champions League game against Olympiakos on Tuesday night.

It was Mannone’s first Arsenal appearance in more than two years – and on the evidence of this rick, it may well be his last.
