Video: Andy Reid, still got it
In case you missed it, Andy Reid scored a belter for Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Who’s up for starting up ‘Andy Reid for Ireland’ campaign again?
With all the fuss over Shane Long’s goal, and Giovanni Trapattoni’s visit to Carrow Road to see Anthony Pilkington and Wes Hoolhan, another Irish international was in fine form at the weekend.
Down at the City Ground, in Nottingham, Andy Reid curled in a beauty of a free-kick to put Forest 1-0 up on Cardiff. The home side would eventually win 3-1 and it was Reid’s second goal in as many games as he bagged the winner away to Peterborough the week before.
Reid hasn’t kicked a ball for Ireland in almost five years, and we don’t expect Trap to give him a call up soon. But we might just keep an eye on him, see if this form keeps up, and be ready to launch the 'Andy Reid for Ireland' bandwagon once again. At the very least, it will keep us amused during the long, dark days of winter.
