Only yesterday we brought you news that Robbie Keane might be on his way out of LA. The Ireland captain hit back last night on the pitch.

Robbie Keane woke up yesterday on his 32nd birthday to the story that the LA Galaxy were plotting to ditch the Dubliner in favour of Frank Lampard. Keane is no stranger to transfer speculation in his career so he probably laughed it off, went for a stroll in the sunshine and then went out on the pitch and did what he does best, scoring goals.

Last night Keane’s Galaxy were in Chicago to play the Chicago Fire, minus the services of the suspended David Beckham. So Robbie stepped up and scored both goals in a 2-0 win, one that moves the reigning MLS champs up the Western Conference.

Jump to 2.20 to see Robbie win a penalty before converting it. The second goal is at 5.50, a left-footed finish.

From the reports we read, the fans, who have been on Keane’s back, were still not happy with Ireland’s greatest scorer, accusing him of missing one too many chances in the game and in the above clip you can see somebody aims a drink at Keane after his second goal. They are probably a Fire fan though.

Despite finding the net twice, and Lampard reaffirming he wanted to stay at Chelsea, today’s press are speculating that come January, Keane will be on his way back to English football.

There’s not much more Keane can do apart from keep scoring. If he does, the rumours might die down.
