We’ve seen some fan attacks in our time but this is the maddest we have seen in quite a while.

Last night’s Ukrainian league game between FC Metalist and Chernomorets was marred by a shocking attack on one of the officials. The ‘fan’ ran on and immediately attempted to strangle the assistant referee with terrifying determination.

Luckily help was on hand quickly and the linesman was rescued from the invader’s clutches. The assailant was then muscled off the pitch but he didn’t go without a fight.
