Video: Fridge of free beer lasts for only three minutes in Euro 2012 media centre
Thirsty media folk at Euro 2012 did little to dispel the commonly held stereotype about journalists liking a beer or two… and free stuff.
Throw us journalists a sandwich made of cardboard and we’ll eat it as long as it’s free, so you can imagine the saliva dripping from the mouths of football journalists at Euro 2012 when a fridge full of free beer was made available to them at a media centre during the tournament.
Most were happy to line-up orderly and take one or two bottles at the start, but after a while there was little care for queuing etiquette and shameless journos skipped ahead, came in from the side and grabbed multiple bottles at will when it became clear that the supply of free booze was quickly running dry.
We can’t imagine that the copy being filed after all of the said free beer was consumed was of the highest quality, apart from the poor sod who’s lefty empty handed and finds to his dismay that the well-stocked fridge alongside can’t be accessed.
If you want to see just how fast a group of journalists can empty a fridge full of free beer, check out the video above and please don’t judge us after doing so because we’re not all the same *burp*.
