Video: Germany go 4-0 up against Sweden, then this happens
Firstly, this is bad news for Ireland but what a comeback by Sweden tonight. Four down with 30 minutes to go, Sweden did this…
As we saw on Friday night, Germany are pretty handy. Okay, we helped in a big way but the second best team in the world are going to beat most teams, especially on home turf.
As we were doing the business in the Faroes, we were keeping a beady eye on what was happening in Berlin. We wanted to see Sweden well beaten as it would help our cause and as they led 3-0 at half-time thanks to goals by Marco Reus, Miroslav Klose and Per Mertesacker we felt confident.
The home side went 4-0 up thanks to Mesut Ozil on the hour mark and to be honest, we got down to finishing off our pieces on the Ireland game. So you can imagine our surprise when the final score of 4-4 flashed up on Twitter.
A typo? No, incredibly Sweden had bagged four goals, away from home, to salvage a draw in 30 minutes against Germany. How? Well, as you might imagine, a man called Zlatan was heavily involved.
The PSG man got the first and then Mikael Lustig made it 4-2 shortly afterwards. Next up was Johan Elmander (remember him?) who narrowed the lead to just one with 13 to play but Germany looked like they would hang on.
At least they did until the 92nd minute when Rasmus Elm levelled it up, as you can see above.
An incredible result for Sweden, a really bad night for Germany and some pretty bad news for the Boys in Green.
Now we have the full highlights of the game, courtesy of 101greatgoals.
