Video: Goal of the day goes to USA's Michael Bradley
Ashley Young got a fine goal against Norway and Shane Long’s header had its charms, but neither were a patch on Michael Bradley’s spectacular effort for the USA against Scotland.
The Americans opened a can of whupass on the Scots in Jacksonville, Florida last night, with Landon Donovan scoring a hat-trick in an extremely comprehensive 5-1 victory.
Donovan might have bagged the match ball, but his thunder was stolen by one-time Aston Villa target Michael Bradley, who cracked a stunning half-volley to the top corner to put the hosts 2-0 up in the first half.
It wasn’t exactly the easiest of strikes as the ball was bobbling outside the area when the cueball midfielder met it about 30 yards from goal, but his technique was perfect as he sent the ball crashing towards the top corner, leaving the ‘keeper with no chance.
As you can see from his somewhat dramatic celebration afterwards, Coach Jurgen Klinsmann certainly enjoyed it; we’re just surprised he didn’t go off and do a big dive by the corner flag.
Check out Bradley’s spectacular effort for yourself in the video above.
