Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan scored the goal of the weekend with a brilliant finish in their league game with Estoril.
By Declan Whooley
The midfielder had not scored this season, but what a way to open your account. The game was level on 37 minutes when Benfica won a corner.
Gaitan moved towards the ball and his flying back-heeled volley went straight into the net. A brilliant finish that reminded us of Gianfranco Zola’s effort against Norwich in the FA Cup in 2002.
Sublime skill by both men and worthy of all the praise going their way.
