Video: In case you missed it, the best free-kick ever was scored in Italy at the weekend

We don’t know how in the hell we’re only coming across this now, but Parma’s Massimo Gobbi scored perhaps the best goal ever from a free-kick at the weekend.

There have been some brilliant free-kick routines and some downright hilarious free-kick routines over the years, but we honestly don’t think we’ve come across one as good as the routine that resulted in a quite amazing goal for Parma’s Massimo Gobbi against Palermo at the weekend.

Between the end of the Premier League season and the real start of the Gaelic Football Championship there was an awful lot to distract us on Sunday but better late than never and believe us, this goal is worth waiting for.

Álvaro Ampuero and Jaime Valdés stood over the free-kick on the right hand edge of the area and with all the Parma players moving towards that side of the box, it left acres of space for Gobbi to run into on the left hand side.

Granted, Gobbi still had an awful lot to do when Valdes floated an inviting ball in his direction, but didn’t he take it well with an unstoppable left-foot volley that left the ‘keeper with no chance.
