The man can’t stop scoring it seems. It was a goal that ultimately proved futile on the night but still, what a hit.
Having scored hat-trick against Norwich on Sunday, Suarez was kept in reserve by Brendan Rodgers last night, but was sprung from the bench during a quite manic second half that saw four goals being scored, including three in a crazy five minute spell.
Suarez scored the last of those with a quite magnificent free-kick from the left edge of the area into the top corner, but it turned out to be a mere consolation as the Italian visitors came out on top 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Antonio Di Natale, Sebastian Coates (o.g) and Giovanni Pasquale.
Of all the Liverpool players on show, Stewart Downing will probably be most upset at the loss; he actually managed to claim an assist for Jonjo Shelvey's goal in the first half, but his contribution was overshadowed by what followed.
Not a great night for Liverpool then, but Suarez’s form should be of some comfort and if he can keep scoring goals like this in the weeks ahead, the Anfield faithful will be happy.
