Video: Man United stars' acting not as bad as previous efforts in new DHL ad

21/06/2012 2:52 pm

Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Javier Hernandez all star in a new Manchester United for DHL that is not nearly as bad as some of their previous ventures into commercial acting.

Despite the fact that Michael Owen and particularly Darron Gibson have long since left the club, the God-awful Aon Insure.ie adverts still make all too common appearances on our TV screens, while Wayne Rooney won’t like to be reminded about his cameo appearance in a cringe-inducing advert for Chilean wine company Casillero del Diablo.

So forgive us for getting ready to cover our eyes when we heard that Rooney, Giggs, Sir Alex himself and a host of other United stars were going to star in ad for DHL with the well-known uplifting track ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ providing the soundtrack.

Thankfully, it’s not nearly as bad as it could have been, although that might have a lot to do with the fact that none of the players involved have to say a word and Rooney, who is once again the main focus of attention, simply has to kick a ball around, something that, unlike acting, he’s actually good at.

Check out the United lads’ latest step into the acting world in the video above.
