While we come to expect histrionics from Jose Mourinho on the sideline, this tantrum last night was more over the top than usual.

We are not sure there was in fact any contact, and if there was it can only have been fractional, though Ronnie was in full-flight. An almost Bale-like discussion.

The Real boss charged out of the dug-out and was going to lash out at the first thing he came across. That was a football and he thrashed at the ball, with one member of staff looking like he was in the line of fire.

Alas, it didn’t hit anyone in particular, Ronaldo scored a hat-trick and Madrid beat Celta Vigo 4-0 in the cup tie so happiness was restored at the Bernabeu. Though a recent poll from supporters suggests that 61% of fans think that the Portuguese man is tarnishing the reputation of the club.

We could be in for more Mourinho action on the Old Trafford sidelines in a few weeks.
