Robbie Keane is already back playing in the MLS, and scoring, and his first thought after finding the net was paying tribute to James Nolan. Class.
Robbie Keane took a lot of stick during Euro 2012. He never really had a sniff of goal, and he worked as hard as anybody in Poland, but his critics grew louder as the tournament wore on.
So we were heartened to wake up this morning and discover that he found his shooting boots again. Straight back into action for LA Galaxy last night, Robbie netted the team’s second goal against a fairly woeful Vancouver Whitecaps defence.
You can see Robbie’s goal, and the comical defending, at 2.30 in the above clip. But the Irish striker immediately ran to the sideline after the goal to raise a specially made shirt paying tribute to James Nolan, the young Ireland fan who died in Poland during the Euros.
It was a classy move by Keane and we hear this morning that the shirt will now be sent to James’s family. Nice work Robbie.
