Video: Terry snubbed... again in the latest episode of Handshake-gate
We’re sure that many people are beyond caring whether or not Anton Ferdinand shook the hand of John Terry, but here’s what happened nonetheless.
It was fairly well-flagged that Ferdinand wasn’t going to lock hands with the man he accused of racially abusing him at Loftus Road last year and so it came to pass, with the QPR defender seemingly making a grand gesture of shaking the hand of Petr Cech, the Chelsea player beside Terry in the line-up. As you'll see towards the end of the clip, he didn't shake Ashley Cole's hand either.
Terry, of course, is used to this sort of rejection, having been snubbed by Wayne Bridge in the past, while there was similar hullaballoo over the non-handshake between Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez last season.
At this stage, everyone is beginning to wonder about the need for the pre-match handshakes if there’s going to be such a fuss every time incidents such as this one arise and the Premier League might be better off doing everyone a favour and getting rid of it altogether.
In any case, with the latest episode of handshake-gate over and done with, can we all just forget about this nonsense and start concentrating on the football once again.
