Congratulations Martin Jiranek, you’ve just scored the goal of the season so far.

There are no end of halfway line goals cored these days. The type of lob that made David Beckham a superstar is now getting close to commonplace thanks to the fact there seems to be a camera at every game, in every division, in every country in the world.

We’re not complaining, but it has taken the sheen off some long-range efforts. However, this absolute cracker, by Martin Jiranek for Terek Grozny against Kuban Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League, is no long-range punt.

It is simply a ferocious drive from all of 45 yards. We have already watched this clip at least 10 times and still can’t get over how good it is.
