Video: The new Liverpool kit isn't as bad as we expected

Thankfully Liverpool’s third kit isn’t as bad as the leaked online version we brought you a few weeks back.

When Liverpool unveiled their new home kit a couple of months ago it garnered a fair bit of controversy because of changes to the badge design that some Hillsborough victim support groups were not consulted on.

That aside, the shirt design itself was well received and had a nice retro feel to it. But last month, images of their proposed third kit appeared online and they were truly appalling.

Last night, the third kit was finally released and thankfully the vivid purple colour that was in the leaked version is gone. The grey sleeves with the tribal design are still there though.

Quotes on the Liverpool website about the shirt say that it is: “Coloured nightshade, orange and white, the kit takes inspiration from popular past goalkeeper strips worn by David James during the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons, and Pepe Reina in 2010-11.”

Popular goalkeeper strips? Really. And does any Liverpool fan want to remember David James’ time at the club?

Anyway, if you fancy it, the kit is available to buy from August 2.
