Things are at a bit of a low ebb in Louth football right now. Let junior club Westerners put a smile back on Wee County fans faces. It certainly worked for us.
Louth GAA has been getting bad headlines of late. On the back of a hideous beating from Dublin at Croke Park two weeks ago, the preparation for the qualifiers has been far from smooth either.
Speaking this week, Louth boss Peter Fitzpatrick explained how a combination of emigration and injuries had decimated his squad and training and challenge matches had to be cancelled.
On Monday morning glum Louth fans will know who the 2010 Leinster finalists will face in the back-door system but until then, have a look at this video to cheer you up.
Westerners, a GAA club 8kms from Ardee, decided to have a go at the old Crossbar Challenge. Not only did they have a go but they filmed it and sent it in to us. Like them we love the Soccer AM bit but and the sight of a GAA player trying to hit the crossbar from 45 metres is much more entertaining than watching the likes of David Bentley try to do it.
We’re not sure if Fitzpatrick will discover any unknown gems here but it should at least bring a smile back to the TD’s face.
Hat-tip to Stephen Boylan for sending in the video. We won’t tell you how Stephen’s own effort goes, you will have to watch the video. And if you want to learn a bit more about the lads, their site is here.
And if any other GAA clubs have shot a Crossbar Challenge video, don’t be shy, send it in to [email protected].
