Donegal can expect a raucous home support at Ballybofey today, but they will be safe in the knowledge that they are getting the backing of the Arabic community. Sort of.

And when we say the Arab community, we are using the term a little loosely. The growing numbers of Irish abroad has meant Irish GAA clubs are thriving in some far-afield places, and one ‘Arab’ in the Persian Gulf is fully behind Jimmy McGuinness and his team in their Ulster opener against Tyrone today.
Qatar GAA tweeted this picture into us and shows the brilliant blend of two cultures coming together. This is John Sheerin, first cousin of ace forward Michael Murphy and brother-in-law of Ryan Bradley. And the man played a bit of ball in his time too for Burt GAA club.
