Former Mayo forward Conor Mortimer has been causing a stir on Twitter today after commenting on Kildare’s loss in the U-21 semi-final.
By Declan Whooley
The Lilywhites had been hotly fancied to beat Galway in Tullamore today, but were beaten on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-05, with a host of wides from the Lilywhites contributing to their downfall.
Kildare player Thomas Moolick tweeted his thank the Kildare supporters after the defeat, with Mortimer quick to respond to the message.

That seemed to escalate matters, with the Mayo man receiving a lot of criticism for his comments on the defeated U-21s, with Kildare's Sean Hurley also not escaping attentions.

There was a lot of toing-and-froing, with Mortimer saying that people need to be able to take the criticism if they are dishing it out.

Never one to shy away from what he thinks, he won’t be winning any popularity contests in Kildare in the near future.
