Cork remain unchanged, Tyrone resist temptation to rush back a returning hero and more shuffling by Banty than an LMFAO video. All the weekend’s GAA team news.
While the almost annual clash of Cork and Kerry in Munster may have lost some of its sheen thanks to the qualifiers, it is still one of the highlights of the year. Two of the three best teams in the country will face off and while defeat is not a disaster for the loser by any means, bragging rights and easier summer schedule is the prize, a valuable one at that.
With Kerry naming their team, and with Bryan Sheehan definitely out now for five weeks, Conor Counihan unveiled his selection last night and in a show of strength and fitness, he names the same XV that won the League title back in April.
There are a few positional switches though, most notably Aidan Walsh moving back to the middle after playing at full-forward in the League.
Up north, the clash of Armagh and Tyrone is pretty tasty too, and Mickey Harte named his side last night. Brian McGuigan won’t go straight back into the team after rejoining the fold in recent days but we fully expect him to make an appearance at some stage.
Down in Leinster, Meath go into battle again, this time against Carlow. Since beating Wicklow, Seamus McEnaney has seen captain Seamus Kenny fall foul of injury, forcing a few changes on Banty.
Dónal Keoghan comes in for Kenny, Shane McAnarney moves to the half-backs and Stephen Bray comes in at centre-forward for Mark Collins.
Wexford and Longford also dance again after drawing last week at Croke Park and while Glenn Ryan names an unchanged team, his namesake Jason is forced into a change, with Paddy Byrne coming in for Conor Carty.
