Dublin hurling star Conal Keaney was involved in a motorbike crash on Friday morning – and the early reports suggest he is now a big doubt for Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Limerick.
Keaney has been a revelation since turning his attention to the hurlers this year, helping Anthony Daly’s side to a breakthrough National League success – the county’s first since the 1940s.
However, their hopes of booking a place in the last four when they take on rejuvenated Limerick this weekend have been dealt a major blow by the news that Keaney suffered a leg injury in a traffic accident this morning.
He was apparently travelling to work on his motorbike when he was struck by a van, which may or may not have been driven by a hardened Limerick hurling supporter.
The Ballyboden St Enda's star was taken to Tallaght Hospital, and while the injury is not regarded as serious, he is all but certain to miss Sunday's game at Semple Stadium.
The game forms the first part of an quarter-final double-header – Galway take on Waterford in the afternoon’s second clash at the Thurles venue.
