Earlier today we brought you a snap of a Mayo flag at the top of Mount Everest but it turns out they weren’t the only country represented on the world’s highest mountain in recent weeks.
Mayo fans are used to having their thunder stolen by Donegal after defeat in last year’s All-Ireland Final and it turns out that whether it’s on the pitch or climbing the highest mountain in the world, anything Mayo can do, Donegal can do better.
Or, at least just as well in this case. Having posted a picture on the site earlier today of Mayo fan Kieran Lally proudly displaying a Mayo flag on top of Mount Everest last week, word reached us that a Donegal man had achieved the same feat earlier this month and, like Lally, brought his county flag along to commemorate the occasion.
The man in question was Jason Black, who scaled Everest on the 19 May and was pictured with what is believed to be the first Donegal flag on the summit of the world’s highest mountain, although given what he’s achieved with the county footballers so far, we had to double check that it was indeed Jason Black and not Jim McGuinness carrying it.

It goes without saying that if there is any more evidence of other county flags at the top of Mount Everest then send them our way as quickly as possible, but in the meantime we’d like to congratulate Jason on a quite brilliant achievement.
Hat-tip to Gary O’Hanlon for giving us the heads up on this one
